Cozy Powell died on April 5, 1998 following a car crash while driving his Saab 9000 at 104 mph in bad weather on the M4 motorway near Bristol. He was talking to his girlfriend on his mobile phone, not wearing a seatbelt and over the drink-drive limit.

Here's Cozy playing drums with a 9 year old kid on a TV show in the 70's:

Dennis Wilson (1944-1983) Drummer, Streaker

Yes, the Beach Boys' drummer was a streaker and also gave his house to the Manson family. Everybody loved him. He wasn't satisfied JUST drumming, though.

But really, here's some fine BB footage.

If he were still with us, he turn 64 today. RIP

Ronnie Thomas Verrell (21 February 1926-22 February 2002)

Ronnie Thomas Verrell (21 February 1926-22 February 2002) THIS is the guy.
This is the guy who played all of Animal's (of The Muppet Show) drum parts. He's a British jazz drummer. We've all seen him battle Buddy Rich, but how about Harry Belafonte!?! WHAT?

A little more on Densmore

This perplexed me.

So instead I listened to the Doors.
Densmore could flex time real well, and he can play a dirty blues stomp with all the necessary bombast. I'm listening to him go off on Live at Hollywood Bowl, and I'm getting full drum-journey satisfaction.

Check out his website: www.johndensmore.com

Densmore and Nelson keep it up

John Densmore wingin' it with Michael C Ford. He's sixty-four today.

Here's a guy who went to high school with Kim Fowler and Phil Spector! Sandy f-ing Nelson! His records are far out. Poor dude lost his right foot in a motorcycle accident. Here he is as a successful young drummist! sandynelson2.jpg

There's an abundance of great youtube footage of Sandy playing and ranting. Here's some:

Sandy turns 70 years old today.
